BG Products, Inc. has upgraded its popular BG ATC Plus® Automatic Transmission Conditioner, PN 310, to match the extended drain intervals now recommended by most OEMs.
“It was a great product before, we are just making it better to make a perfect fit with improved OEM automatic transmission fluids,” says Mike Belluomo, BG Product Technical Service Manager.
BG ATC Plus® works in new and used automatic transmission fluids, improving fluid oxidation stability, prolonging fluid life and the life of the transmission. It prevents leaks by keeping seals soft and pliable.
It also helps control transmission shudder‚ retards formation of sludge and varnish deposits and prevents foaming.
OEMs are increasing the quality of their automatic transmission fluids. At the same time, they are increasing recommended service intervals up to 30,000 miles or more, often up to 100,000 miles. Dexron® VI, Ford’s Mercon®V, and Chrysler’s ATF+4 have all been improved to work in the newer, tighter-tolerance automatic transmissions.
“BG doesn’t advocate drain intervals of that long,” Mike says. “We know that without a good conditioner to protect the transmission, a vehicle probably won’t reach the recommended service interval without problems.”
With increased vehicle weights, severity of driving and lengthening drain intervals, it is important to add every possible improvement to fluid quality. With BG ATC Plus®, BG has considered these demands and has formulated a unique product that supplements and fortifies the branded products and is completely compatible.
BG’s cycle and oxidation tests “show that we bring vast improvements that lay the groundwork for increased fluid quality and endurance,” Mike says.
