BG is the proud owner of a brand new 2010 3.5L Ford Taurus SHO with an EcoBoost™ engine! The newest member of the BG family is slated for arrival in late August. BG is one of the first [consumers] in the nation to receive the North American production twin-turbocharged direct injection V6 engine!
Why buy a new car?
Why did BG purchase a brand new vehicle right off Ford’s assembly line? For testing, of course! Over hundreds of thousands of miles, city and highway, the Taurus will be BG’s long-term fuel efficiency project. Remember the 300,000-mile Mazda? Meet our new Mazda; but it’s a Ford.
“The Mazda trial was important to us because it allowed us to prove what well-formulated chemistry and preventive maintenance can achieve. The new EcoBoost™ trial will allow us to be out in front working to bring solutions to the market for new fuel system technology. It’s exciting for us, and we look forward to the challenging opportunity,” says Dustin Willhite, BG Director of Technology.
What's so special about this car?
According to Ford, “compared to a naturally aspirated engine, the 3.5L EcoBoost™ twin-turbocharged direct injection V6 engine provides higher performance, better fuel economy and fewer CO2 emissions.” This is definitely not the first turbocharged, direct injection engine. But, it is a progressive effort by Ford to move its big volume technology toward an eco-friendly solution. By 2013, Ford plans to install EcoBoost™ engines on more than 90 percent of its fleet.
“Gasoline Direct Injection is the trend for many OEMs today. BG is determined to stay on the cutting edge of the automotive industry."
