IMPORTANT! Read product Safety Data Sheet before use. Carefully read BG Xpress® Transmission Fluid Exchange System instructions before attempting to place this system into operation on any vehicle. A combination of mechanical and local ventilation should be used to prevent operator exposure to noxious fumes. Keep all hoses and tools away from moving engine parts. Check all lines and fittings for cracks and leaks before and after service. Use EXTREME CAUTION when removing transmission lines and/or adaptors before and after service. Transmission fluid may be under pressure and will likely be very hot. Be very careful in handling connections because they will also be very hot. BG Xpress® Transmission Fluid Exchange System is designed to be used only with BG products described in these instructions. Use of any other chemicals or fluids could create hazardous conditions. Do not spray solvents on Flow Indicator (<); clean using mild detergents only. Dispose of used transmission fluid in accordance with federal, state, and local regulations.
- Unpack BG Xpress® and check for shipping damage or missing components.
- Connect an open-end adaptor to end of Used Fluid (U) hose.
- Make sure V2 Fill Valve and V3 Vent Valve are turned to “CLOSE” (O). Turn V1 Control Valve to “PROCESS/ RECHARGE” (I).
- Connect air source to BG Xpress.® Gauge (G) should show increase in pressure.
- The bladder inside tank is now seated properly for filling with fluid. Disconnect air supply and turn V1 Control Valve to “PRESSURE RELEASE” (PR) to remove trapped pressure in system.
- Turn V2 Fill Valve and V3 Vent Valve to “OPEN” (I).
- Pour new fluid into Funnel (F) until there is a steady flow out of V3 Vent Valve into overflow bottle. Allow fluid to drain from Funnel (F), then turn V2 Fill Valve and V3 Vent Valve to “CLOSE” (O). IMPORTANT! BG Xpress® is designed to be manually filled only. Do not attempt to connect a pressurized fluid dispenser directly to BG Xpress.®
- Remove open-end adaptor from Used Fluid (U) hose.
- Locate a point where transmission lines to cooler can be disconnected. Disconnect transmission line(s).
- Attach appropriate adaptors to BG Xpress® service hoses.
- Make sure V1 Control Valve is turned to “CHECK FLOW” (O) and V2 Fill Valve and V3 Vent Valve are turned to “CLOSE” (O). Connect BG Xpress® service hoses securely to vehicle transmission line(s).
- Make sure S1 Pump Switch is turned to “OFF” (O). Connect BG Xpress® to vehicle’s 12V battery, red to positive (+) and black to negative (–) battery terminals.
- Start vehicle and check for leaks.
- Note direction of fluid flow in Flow Indicator (<). Fluid must flow in direction of scale on Flow Indicator (<).
- If fluid is flowing in wrong direction, shut off engine, reverse service hoses and restart engine.
- Allow vehicle to come to full operating temperature. Check fluid level.
- Add BG Quick Clean for Transmissions, PN 106, to Funnel (F).
- Turn S1 Pump Switch to “ADD” (+). When Funnel (F) is empty, Turn S1 Pump Switch to “OFF” (O). Note: If BG Quick Clean for Transmissions does not drain from Funnel (F) in less than 15 seconds, turn off vehicle to allow Funnel (F) to empty, then turn S1 Pump Switch to “OFF” (O) and restart vehicle.
- Make sure transmission is at proper fill level. If fluid level is too high, turn V1 Control Valve to “PROCESS/ RECHARGE” (I) position and V3 Vent Valve to “OPEN” (I). Fluid will drain into overflow bottle.
- Raise vehicle until wheels are off ground.
- Shift transmission through all positions, working BG Quick Clean for Transmissions through system.
- Turn V1 Control Valve to “PROCESS/ RECHARGE” (I) and turn S1 Pump Switch to “BOOST” (*). Gauge (G) should show an increase in pressure. Note pressure reading on Gauge (G).
- When fluid exchange is complete, pin in sight glass on tank will be visible and pressure will drop to 12 to 15 PSI. Incoming fluid from transmission will be re-routed through a bypass system back into transmission. Fluid flow through Flow Indicator (<) will slow down noticeably.
- When pressure drops, turn S1 Pump Switch to “OFF” (O) and turn V1 Control Valve to “CHECK FLOW” (O).
- For automatic transmissions, add BG ATC Plus,® PN 310, to Funnel (F). For CVTs, DCTs or DSGs, add BG CVT Plus, PN 303, to Funnel (F).
- Turn S1 Pump Switch to “ADD” (+). When Funnel (F) is empty, Turn S1 Pump Switch to “OFF” (O). Note: If fluid does not drain from Funnel (F) in less than 15 seconds, turn off vehicle to allow Funnel (F) to empty, then turn S1 Pump Switch to “OFF” (O) and restart vehicle.
- Check fluid level. When vehicle’s transmission fluid level is correct, shut off engine and turn V1 Control Valve to “PRESSURE RELEASE” (PR) to relieve pressure from system before disconnecting service hoses from vehicle transmission lines.
- Make sure a service hose is attached to Used Fluid (U) port.
- Attach an open-end adaptor to Used Fluid (U) hose and place end of hose in a container large enough to hold volume of tank in BG Xpress.® Secure hose to container—pressure spikes may cause hose to jump.
- Turn V1 Control Valve to “PROCESS/ RECHARGE” (I).
- Connect air source to BG Xpress.® Removal of used fluid will begin immediately. Gauge (G) will read regulated air pressure inside BG Xpress.®
- Tank is empty when no fluid is visible in Flow Indicator (<) and no fluid runs out Used Fluid (U) hose. There will still be pressure on Gauge (G) and hose. When tank is empty, remove air supply and turn V1 Control Valve to “PRESSURE RELEASE” (PR) to release trapped pressure.
- To refill BG Xpress® turn V3 Vent Valve to “OPEN” (I) to release trapped pressure.
- Turn V2 Fill Valve to “OPEN” (I) and slowly pour fluid into Funnel (F) until a steady stream flows out of V3 Vent Valve into overflow bottle.
- Allow fluid to drain from Funnel (F), then turn V2 Fill Valve and V3 Vent Valve to “CLOSE” (O). BG Xpress® is now filled with new fluid.
