INSTRUCTIONS
- Make sure this service is performed in a well-ventilated area.
- Keep all hoses and tools away from moving engine parts.
- Check all lines, hoses, adaptors and points of connection for cracks and leaks before and after service.
- WARNING! To prevent being burned, follow the vehicle manufacturer’s instructions for bleeding pressure before removing the radiator/remote tank cap.
- WARNING! Use in well-ventilated area.
- CAUTION! Hoses and connectors on the BG MVP3 can reach the same high temperature as coolant.
- CAUTION! Dispose of cooling system fluids and filters in accordance with federal, state, and local regulations.
The BG MVP3 is designed to be used only with a vehicle cooling system service. DO NOT use this machine to pump or transfer any flammable or combustible liquids.
**Early models of the MVP3 are equipped with individual “Service” and “Empty” switches instead of selector knob (V). Only one switch should be turned on at any time.
Filling Coolant Tube (T2/T3)
Note: Vehicle coolant system capacity includes all coolant reservoirs when determining the amount of coolant needed to complete a service.
- Remove the cap for the New Fluid Tube (T2/T3) on top of the machine.
- Dispense new fluid into New Fluid Tube (T2/T3).
- When the filling is complete, reinstall the cap on the New Fluid Tube (T2/T3).
- Turn the tube selector (M) to the appropriate tank.
Install Cleaner
- Connect the BG MVP3 to shop air.
- Turn the selector knob (V) on the BG MVP3 control panel to “Service” (S).
**Early models: Flip the service switch (S) to the “up” position. - Remove vehicle’s radiator/remote tank cap.
- Insert the nylon tube on the handheld dispenser into the vehicle’s radiator/remote tank.
- Press and hold “–” button* on the handheld dispenser to remove enough coolant to allow for adding BG Universal Cooling System Cleaner, PN 540.
- Add BG Universal Cooling System Cleaner to the cooling system at the appropriate treat ratio for the vehicle being serviced.
- Replace radiator/remote tank cap.
- Start engine and bring it to normal operating temperature. Set heater controls at their highest position and operate engine for 10–30 minutes.
Drain Unpressurized Recovery Tank
- Connect the BG MVP3 to shop air.
- Turn the selector knob (V) on the BG MVP3 control panel to “Service” (S).
**Early models: Flip the service switch (S) to the “up” position. - Insert the nylon tube on the handheld dispenser into the vehicle’s recovery tank.
- Press and hold “–” button* on the handheld dispenser until the vehicle’s recovery tank is empty.
Extract Used Coolant
- Shut off engine and remove the cap from the radiator or remote tank.
- Select the appropriate cone for the radiator/remote tank.
- Seat the handheld dispenser cone into the opening.
- Extend the nylon tube as deep as possible into the radiator/remote tank.Note: The nylon tubing must be in the coolant to work properly. If the cone seals above the recovery tank port in the neck, pinch off the tube connecting the port to the recovery tank. If there is not enough clearance for the handheld dispenser you can remove the cone and slide it onto the tube as shown in the picture below.
- Start engine and ensure the selector knob (V) is set to “Service” (S).
**Early models: Flip the service switch (S) to the “up” position. - To remove coolant from the vehicle, press and hold the “–” button* on the handheld dispenser. If needed, the button can be locked in the open position by rotating the lock plate toward the button.
- The vacuum from the BG MVP3 will begin to remove coolant from the system. The hoses on the cooling system should begin to collapse (vacuum will begin to read on the handheld gauge). This is normal and will aid in the removal of used coolant from the system. Once the hoses on the cooling system have collapsed and you begin to see air bubbles inside the nylon tubing, this is an indication that no more fluid can be removed.WARNING! Do not allow engine to run longer than three (3) minutes once hoses have collapsed! Failure to follow this guideline may result in engine overheating and permanent engine damage.
- When no more fluid can be removed, release “–” button*.
Fill with New Coolant
NOTE: While filling, do not break the cone’s vacuum seal with the vehicle.
- Press and hold the “+” button* to start the flow of new coolant. The fill feature of the BG MVP3 uses a small amount of pressure (2 PSI) to push new coolant into the vehicle’s cooling system.Warning: Be sure to press firmly on the handheld dispenser to prevent pressure from breaking the seal and spraying hot coolant during the filling process.
- Release the “+” button* when any of the following occurs:
- Radiator hoses are fully inflated.
- The gauge on the handheld dispenser reads 0 PSI.
- The fluid in the nylon tube has stopped flowing.
- Before removing the handheld dispenser, briefly press the “–” button* to bleed any excess pressure built during the filling process.
Repeat for Best Exchange
- Let the vehicle’s cooling system circulate for at least one (1) minute.
- Repeat the drain and fill process until all coolant reservoirs have been serviced and all the new coolant has been used.
NOTE: Draining and filling radiator/coolant reservoirs multiple times while the engine is running will ensure a more effective service. Systems equipped with remote live bottles will also benefit from draining and filling multiple times.
Install Conditioner
- Add BG Universal Super Cool®, PN 546, to the cooling system at the appropriate treat ratio for the vehicle being serviced.
Top Off Radiator or Fill Remote/Recovery Tank
- Insert just the nylon tube on the handheld dispenser into the remote/recovery tank.
- Press the “+” button* on the handheld controller until the remote/recovery tank is full with new coolant.
- Reinstall all caps removed during the service.
- Turn off the BG MVP3 by turning the selector knob (V) to “Off” (O).
**Early models: Flip the service switch (S) to the “down” position.
Emptying Used Fluid (T1) Tube
- Connect the BG MVP3 to shop air.
- Turn the selector knob (V) to “Empty” (E).
**Early models: Flip the empty switch (E) to the “up” position. - Insert the wand into a suitable used coolant container.
- Press “–” button* on the handheld dispenser to begin the removal of used coolant.
- When finished, turn the selector knob (V) on the BG MVP3 control panel to “Off” (O).
**Early models: Flip the empty switch (S) to the “down” position.
Note: The button can be locked in the on position by rotating the lock plate toward the button.
