INSTRUCTIONS
This tool must be used in conjunction with a pressurized BG VIA® supply tool to perform a BG Air Intake System Cleaning Service or BG GDI Intake Valve Cleaning Service.
Wear safety goggles to protect your eyes.
Wear Nitrile®, Neoprene® or PVC gloves to protect your hands.
Wear a long-sleeved shirt to protect your arms.

IMPORTANT! Read product Safety Data Sheet before use.
CAUTION! Never use a throttle depressor to keep the engine above idle during service.

  1. Add BG Platinum® 44K® to fuel tank.
  2. Loosen retainer clamp and remove the end of air intake boot from the throttle body.
  3. Position the spray nozzle in front of the throttle plate. The nozzle should be aimed at the center of the throttle plate, but not touching it.
  4. Fill the pressurized BG VIA® supply tool with BG Air Intake & Valve Cleaner, PN 260, or BG Air Intake System Cleaner, PN 206. Back out the air pressure regulator and connect to shop air.
CAUTION! These BG cleaners will damage paint and certain plastic materials.
  5. Attach BG VIA® supply tool hose to BG Air Intake System Cleaning Tool.
  6. Start vehicle and allow engine to warm up to operating temperature. With engine running at idle speed, adjust air pressure on supply tool to approximately 60 PSI. It may be necessary to unplug the MAF sensor for runnability.
  7. If the vehicle will not run, it may be necessary to attach the S-shaped spray nozzle to the air intake boot and reinstall on vehicle.
  8. Open ball valve on supply hose. IMPORTANT! While performing the service, quickly snap the throttle to rev the engine to 3,500 RPM three times every 45 seconds to clear any accumulation of BG cleaner.
  9. When supply tool is empty, close ball valve on supply hose. IMPORTANT! After the service, let engine idle for 15 minutes to allow residual BG cleaner to evaporate.
  10. Turn off engine. Remove the BG Air Intake System Cleaning Tool from the air intake boot.
  11. Reinstall air intake boot and start engine. Check for leaks around boot.
  12. Test drive the vehicle and clear any DTCs that may have been set.

Servicing Turbocharged Engines
To perform the service on a vehicle with a turbocharged engine, install the BG Air Intake System Cleaning Tool between the turbo and the throttle body. To do so, remove the air intake hose between the turbo and the throttle body.

Do not spray BG cleaner through the turbo! The turbo has oil seals that may dry out or damage easily. If the seals are damaged, oil can leak into the air intake system. Also, some turbos have a coating on the internal components that the BG cleaner may remove.

These services should NOT be performed on supercharged engines!

Tool Maintenance
The BG Air Intake System Cleaning Tool contains a filter element which is located in the spray head. It can be removed and cleaned with any solvent.

The BG VIA® supply tool also contains a filter element in the bottom of the canister body that can be removed and cleaned with any solvent.
