Answer: BG Universal Synthetic CVT Fluid, PN 318, is designed for use in only belt-driven CVTs. These CVTs exhibit modest thermal stress and require good surface-to-surface metal protection. CVT units produced by GM, Chrysler, Nissan, Mercedes Benz, Subaru, Lexus, Mitsubishi, Jeep, ZF, BMW, Land Rover, Volvo, Mazda, Acura, Honda, Toyota and Saturn all fall into this category.
CVT designs in Audi Volkswagen and Ford models use chains. This design requires an additional dose of anti-wear protection, more than our CVT fluid alone can provide. Chain-driven CVT designs have a tremendous need for added metal-to-metal surface protection.
