Question:
Is it true that you should not leave BG 109 Compression Performance Restoration in a vehicle for more than 30 minutes?
Answer:
After 15–30 minutes BG 109 has reached its full potential to clean. It's not harmful to operate the car for a longer time, but it is unnecessary. We do not recommend leaving any of our system cleaning products in a system for an extended period of time.
Question:
Is BG 109 Compression Performance Restoration safe for use in older model vehicles?
Answer:
It is perfectly safe to use BG 109 on almost every engine. However, if you suspect the car has been neglected and the engine may contain sludge buildup, be careful!
Any cleaning product used in a neglected engine should be carefully monitored. To avoid problems—including, but not limited to, plugged oil pick-up screen, starvation of bearing lubrication and scoring of the piston rings and cylinders—be sure to evaluate the extent of sludge buildup prior to using the product. Usually low oil pressure or inspection of the inside of the valve cover can reveal this problem. Although it's rare to find an engine with too much heavy sludge buildup for BG 109, these neglected vehicles are not good candidates for the service.
Don't forget to change the oil and use BG 109 Compression Restoration Performance with the BG Performance Oil Changer Complete Kit, Part No. 9800-500.
